Would you like to really use your smartphone on holiday instead of leaving it in flight mode? Find your way to the hotel even without an internet connection? Book a train ticket on the spur of the moment or translate a menu with your camera?

In three hours your Android device becomes a travel companion. We set up the most important travel apps together and go through the situations where you need them – including how to keep roaming costs and insecure hotel Wi-Fi under control.

What you will learn

  • Navigating safely with Google Maps: planning routes by car, train and on foot, using offline maps without internet, finding restaurants and sights.
  • Booking easily: booking train tickets or a hotel safely while you are on the move.
  • Overcoming languages: translating menus with your camera and having conversations interpreted live.
  • Costs and security: spotting roaming traps, controlling data usage and using public Wi-Fi safely.

What to bring

  • Your charged Android smartphone (not an iPhone).
  • You are comfortable with the basic operation of your device.

Why take part?

  • You set everything up on your own device during the course – ready for your next trip.
  • You know what to sort out before you leave and what still works while travelling.
  • You travel lighter: no heavy guidebook and no worry about the bill afterwards.
